Akdal Arms has been manufacturing the self-loading smoothbore shotgun MKA 1919 since 2009. It resembles the American M16 assault rifle in appearance and is intended for civilians and police. Unlike most other self-loading shotguns, including those made in Russia, the MKA 1919 shotgun has a low weight due to the widespread use of polymers.

Specifications:

  • The caliber is: 12/76
  • The weapon’s length is: 964 mm
  • The barrel length is: 470 mm
  • The weight of the cartridges without them is 3.25 kg.
  • The magazine has a capacity of 5 rounds.

The gun’s lightness is a considerable advantage when its owner has to carry a shotgun for a long time, such as while hunting or on an expedition.

MKA 1919 shotguns do not have any innovations in automatic operation. A part of the powder gas removed from the barrel is used to power the gun through automation. Gas pistons consist of rings mounted on tubes passing under barrels. The tube is also surrounded by a return spring.

A swinging cylinder is located within the bolt body to lock the barrel bore with the barrel shank. There are two halves to the MKA 1919 receiver, which are connected by cross pins. The upper half of the receiver, which secures the barrel, is made of light alloy. High-strength polymer is used for the lower part of the receiver, including the magazine shaft, butt, and pistol grip.

As with the M16, the safety on the MKA 1919 is located on the left side of the gun, above the pistol grip fire control. As with M16 rifles, the weapon is equipped with a bolt stop. A detachable box magazine with a capacity of five cartridges feeds the MKA 1919 shotgun.

Rifle sights consist of a front sight in the muzzle and a diopter rear sight in a removable handle. Picatinny rails are mounted on the top of the receiver. This bar can have a carrying handle, optical sight, or collimator.

Not only does the MKA 1919 shotgun have a low weight for its caliber and design, but it is also ergonomically designed, making it a very affordable weapon.
